Plans for construction for juicing factory progressing

Posted On Sep 26 2020 by

first_img Sharing is caring! Tweet The construction of a juicing factory for Dominica is closer to becoming a reality. Agriculture Minister Johnson Drigo says plans for the construction of the factory are at negotiation stage. A suitable location for the construction of the juicing factory is also being discussed. Minister Drigo told Dominica Vibes earlier this week that 20,000 thousand pineapple plantlets have arrived on island to boost production. The purchase of the pineapple plantlets was facilitated by the European Union through its Banana Accompanying Measures Programme (BAM).“The Pineapple Association is very happy that the fresh plants are on island and this will not disturb our exotic…pineapple plants that we are accustomed with, this will be more for the juice export market,” Minister Drigo informed. He added that “Dominica is being earmarked to produce a lot of the pineapples that countries like Martinique is going to need for the juicing market”. An investor from Martinique, who made a preliminary visit to Dominica recently, held discussions with officials from the Ministries of Trade and Agriculture and the Dominica Pineapple Association for the construction of the facility. He said the purchase of the fresh pineapple plantlets is a similar process to the banana plantlets which will be distributed to farmers. 158 Views   no discussions Sharecenter_img Share LocalNews Plans for construction for juicing factory progressing by: Dominica Vibes News – July 8, 2015 Sharelast_img read more
