Share Crime Stoppers Dominica has received just over EC $40,000 for their fight against crime.Ross University School Of Medicine, Dominica Campus gave a donation to the organization on Thursday, September 11th to what they consider a successful programme.Senior Associate Dean at Ross University, Dr. Dean Weaver says the increased donation speaks volumes of the faith that they have in the organization.“Crime Stoppers is all over the world and has made a difference in the safety of communities and in making [people], especially our students, faculty and staff feel safe.”Crime Stoppers is a community-based non-profit organization where civilians can anonymously give information on criminal activity.Executive Director of Crime Stoppers Dominica, Genevieve Astaphan says the donation will go a long way to help get the message out that Crime Stoppers works.She also said, “The money will help pay rewards to tipsters.”Astaphan applauded the Dominican public for playing their part in bringing criminals to justice.“The Dominican public has embraced this concept. It allows them to do their civic duty without exposing themselves publicly and it’s also free. Both Lime and Digicel have come on board so there’s no cost to [callers]. It’s free. I would like to encourage everybody to really embrace it.
