Fresh elections should be called by 6th June. Former elite umpire Billy Doctrove has confirmed that he has been approached by some of the affiliates to run for the presidency of committee. “If the associations nominate me, I will consider it favorably because I believe that the public image of the DOC needs to be improved and we need to bring back the integrity and credibility within the DOC,” Mr Doctrove said in a live interview with DBS Radio on Monday 27th April. He indicated that he has conducted investigations into the affairs of the Committee and what he has discovered is “really, really shocking”. According to Mr Doctrove, if these discoveries were brought to the attention of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), “some persons would not go home smiling and possibly some persons would not be going home for a while”.“Over my thirty-eight years of activities involved in sports, I’ve never come across such blatant mal administrative practices and extreme, excessive abuse of privileges,” he said.Among the matters of concern raised at the special meeting were the composition, role and function of the Athletes Commission, the legitimacy of the Athletes Reps who voted at the 2013 Election of Officers, the denial of Member Associations from voting at the 2013 Election of Officers, the non-acceptance of nominations submitted by a number of affiliated Member Associations, inconsistencies with the number of nominations submitted by Associations and the financial activities of the DOC from immediately preceding the 2012 Olympics up to the present time. Mr Felix Wilson was elected president and Thomas Dorsett as secretary during the January elections.Dominica Vibes News LocalNews Olympic Committee to hold fresh elections by: – May 28, 2013center_img Share Share Sharing is caring!last_img
